Around Rostock & Warnemuende

Rostock-Warnemuende has become one of the most popular ports for cruise ships in the Baltic. Although Berlin still is the biggest destination for excursions, many guests decide to stay close to the ship and maybe go out for two short endevours and thus still make use of the ship's amenities. The lively seaside resort Warnemuende with its atmosphere of a typical german fisherman's village and sandy beaches and the historic town centre of Rostock with significant sights and excellent shopping and dining offers are definitely worth a visit.

Discover Rostock and Warnemuende
The Hanseatic City of Rostock looks back on almost 800 years of history at the banks of the river Warnow. From the New Market with the splendid Town Hall to the University Square with the Monastery to the Holy Cross it is just a short stroll along the main boulevard lined with gabled houses of all eras. Stop by St. Mary's with its famous astronomical clock and the impressive baroque organ and get in touch with the historic town wall. The city's outpost at the coast Warnemuende is a popular resort with its promenade, lighthouse and typical fisherman's homes along the old shipping route. This tour is a good opportunity for sightseeing and some time at leisure close to the port. You might also get the chance to partake in one of the many festivities and events during the summer. Of special interest is maybe also the exhibition in the former remand prison of the East German secret police in Rostock (closed on Mondays).

Baltic Seaside Resorts Splendors
Experience a variety of resorts on this panoramic tour along the coast. Maybe stop by the ancient gothic abbey in Doberan and marvel at one of the best preserved medieval furnishings in Europe. From Doberan you could take the vintage steam train Molli to Heiligendamm - the oldest seaside resort on the german Baltic coast from 1793. Heiligendamm, an elegant, white, classicist resort, was the host of the G8 summit 2007. The Grand Hotel Heiligendamm is the landmark here. Close by is the lively modern resort of Kuehlungsborn. With its variety of achitectural styles and 3 mile long promenade it is a popular spot for beach activities and afternoon coffee.
